Training and development:

  • Bus: one of the best vocational training programmes of any bus operator, backed up by mentoring programmes and other initiatives to recruit and retain staff.
  • Rail: initiatives include a centralised recruitment centre, operations training facility, open learning programmes, customer service academy, support for managers and employee recognition schemes.
  • North America: a centralised driver training school has improved the quality and consistency of training. We have also created a management-in-training programme for middle managers.

Management development:

  • Our Graduate Development Scheme aims to create the managers of the future. The two-year programme offers hands-on involvement in the business, complemented by off-the-job development and classroom-style tuition. It covers training on engineering, finance, marketing and operations. Many graduates have gone on to become senior managers.
  • Stagecoach’s Apprenticeship Programme is one of the most comprehensive in the bus industry. Our focus is on producing qualified multi-skilled technicians to work on increasingly more technologically advanced vehicles, as well as identifying the engineering managers of tomorrow.

Health and well-being:

We are there to offer help to our people when they need it most.

Our employee assistance programmes include a 24-hour confidential counselling service. We also hold regular health check initiatives across our operations and offer staff private health insurance.
